Girl in Green {Tribute to the Painter Federico Infanti}

The painting was created during the period of the coronavirus, with the date of March 2020 embedded in the artwork, along with the English inscription: “Set yourself free.” The shades of green invite the outside in, and the figure of the woman in black and white imagines her hair flying in the wind, carrying a longing for days without lockdowns, days of absolute freedom.

Painting Name: Girl in Green {Tribute to the
Painter Federico Infanti} Dimensions: 90 cm width * 1.20 m length

This painting possesses a force that touches each and every one of us, symbolizing a period of life, instilling curiosity and interest within every space it occupies.

Many artists fall in love with the work of another painter; at times, it’s challenging to get it out of one’s mind, every observation of the painting is emotionally charged once again. Numerous artists can be seen creating renditions of famous artworks in their own interpretation.

I ask myself, is this similar to a singer doing a cover of a well-known and beloved song? And what about copyright? Well… it’s okay to do it, everyone’s doing it… and if credit is given to the original creator, it’s also a tribute; it means we really liked something and we’re paying homage by doing our version of it.

So, I really love the paintings of the artist Federico Infanti, and the specific painting I chose to create as a tribute to his work resonated with me during the initial lockdowns of the coronavirus. It was a challenging time during which I found solace in art; I returned to painting, and my artworks expressed my emotions during that period – paintings that conveyed feelings.

Yes, I painted a tribute to “Girl with a Pearl Earring,” a famous artwork by Vermeer. And I particularly love this painting; it holds an air of mystery, an internal contemplation.
